### Recap - So I took a bit of a break. Kind of a long one. Trailed off toward the end of April, little to nothing in May. Work and life got in the way. - Finished active immersion with Madre sólo hay dos. I really loved this series. - Friendship (and maybe more!) between Ana and Mariana was beautifully written. The show really shined when it let the two of them do their thing. - It's funny. - I'm speculating, but compared to La casa de las flores, the dialogue seemed more current, or conversational. - Finished season 4 of Jane the Virgin, free flow. This show was great in earlier seasons but it really starts to draaaaaag. Watching for Petra. - Finished up to Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix audiobooks in Spanish - Started Luis Miguel: La serie - Finished the Spanish translation of Lore Olympus, a webtoon about Hades and Persephone (Cuentos del Olimpo) - Watched La casa de las flores: la pelicula. Nicely done sendoff for the show. - Continuing to follow the [Refold](https://refold.la/roadmap/)learning philosophy, which is based on a mix of comprehensible input and spaced repetition. ![[269 hours.png]] ### Why'd I take a break? I got bored. I was pushing myself too hard to finish the Harry Potter series audiobooks even though I'd stopped being interested in them. Pushing myself too hard to only watch if I could properly sentence mine. Pushing myself too hard to have something playing in Spanish every free minute of my day. It stopped being as fun. ### The Plan **Goal: Make it fun again.** Looking to finish Luis Miguel, jump into some fun podcasts (maybe Caso 63) or vlogs (looking at travel vlogs - Luisito Comunica, Alex Tienda), maybe try some series with the Spain dialect, maybe get into some graded readers! Whatever is **interesting**. #### Intensive Immersion - Watching Luis Miguel: The Series w/Spanish subtitles #### Free-Flow Immersion - Watching Jane the Virgin, no subtitles - Watching various Spanish travel vloggers (Luisito Comunica, Alex Tienda), no subtitles #### Dictionary/Vocab Also plan to start using a monolingual dictionary when looking up meanings of words I don't now. Up to now I've been using SpanishDict, a bilingual dictionary. Bilingual dictionary = look up words in Spanish, read definition in English Monolingual dictionary = look up words in Spanish, read definition in Spanish And for my reference... #### Criteria for moving on to 2C Goal is to achieve level 4 comprehension. In this stage we gradually increase difficulty of comprehension. >By the end of Stage 2B, you should have level 4 comprehension while reading native content. >To evaluate your comprehension, pick a native show that’s meant for an adult audience (ie. not a children’s show). Watch an episode that you've never seen before, stopping to read each subtitle line, but without doing any lookups.
